Patio Installation,
Built to Outlast Winters.

From flagstone retreats in Lake Forest to expansive paver patios in Barrington, G&D builds outdoor living spaces engineered for Illinois weather — proper base prep, joint stabilization, and edge restraints that keep your patio level for decades.

What we build

Every kind of patio, properly installed.

A great patio isn't about the stone you see on top — it's everything underneath. We dig deeper, compact harder, and finish cleaner than the average installer, because Illinois freeze-thaw cycles don't forgive shortcuts.

  • Concrete paver patios — Unilock, Belgard, and Techo-Bloc product lines
  • Natural flagstone & bluestone — for that classic North Shore look
  • Travertine patios — luxe finish, naturally cool underfoot
  • Permeable pavers — for drainage-sensitive sites
  • Multi-level patios — integrated steps, walls, and seating
  • Patio rebuilds & repairs — fix sunken sections and failed bases

Our patio base spec

Most patio failures come from cheap base work. Here's how we do it:

  • 6"+ of compacted CA-6 limestone base
  • 1" of bedding sand, screeded flat
  • Polymeric sand joints (no weeds, no washout)
  • Concrete or paver edge restraints
  • Drainage planning before the first stone goes down

Materials come direct from our G&D Materials yard in Lake County — no markup middlemen.
